Anim8s is managed by a voluntary Board of Trustees; a network of professional artists and arts professionals. Our current Associates are Martin Ayres and Andrew Low. Here's some info about them....
Having worked as a manager and artist for a range of agencies including North Edinburgh Arts and Whale, Martin Ayres formed Caged Beastie in 2004 to provide creative opportunities for people of all ages with a focus on the use of the arts as a tool for learning, advocacy, consultation and expression. He has worked extensively throughout Scotland and in North America, Africa, Asia and across Europe devising and delivering a broad range of award-winning digital media projects for clients including the Scottish Government, Children and Young People’s Commissioner Scotland, Scottish Women’s Aid and Investing in Children. Martin also holds a post-graduate diploma in Art Therapy from Herts College of Art and Design. He has worked on a number of Anim8s projects and was a founder member of the organisation.
Andrew Low studied at Stirling University during which time he won the prestigious David Jacobs Scholarship which gave him the opportunity to study producing, cinematography and animation at UCLA in Los Angeles. He has been a specialist tutor for the Centre for the Moving Image, delivering animation workshops across the UK as part of a year of events celebrating the centenary of the birth of filmmaker Norman McLaren. He has extensive experience of working with vulnerable and looked-after young people. Andrew currently works with Dundee Contemporary Arts as a Learning Co-ordinator. He is a co-founder of Anim8s.
In addition we work regularly with guest artists from a range of disciplines. In recent months we have worked with storytellers Fergus McNicol and Ron Fairweather and sound artist and composer Michael Begg.
All artists employed by anim8s are PVG checked and trained in our safeguarding and image policies.
